Welcome to Book Tag Sunday! Every Sunday, we’re hoping to do a new book tag for all of you. To kick it off, we’ve decided to do the Goodreads Book Tag, which we found from Life of a Literary Nerd! Goodreads is truly such an invaluable source. It’s an organizational tool, but also helps us get involved in the community by seeing what people are reading and whether they love or hate it. So without further ado, let’s see what’s coming up for us!
WHAT WAS THE LAST BOOK YOU MARKED AS READ?
My last read was The Goblins of Bellwater by Molly Ringle! I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book, even though it’s a New Adult novel. I enjoyed it, but I’m not a huge fan of NA, so I felt like I couldn’t enjoy it as much. You can check out my review here!
WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
I’m just about to start When I Cast Your Shadow by Sarah Porter! This is another ARC I got, and I could not be more excited to delve into it. It seems very complex and interesting, and I’ve yet to read anything else by the author, despite all the praise for Vassa in the Night. Fingers crossed it’ll be good! I have high hopes.
WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO READ NEXT?
Next up in The Devils You Know by M.C. Atwood! This is the first ARC I’ve gotten from Edelweiss, and I am over the moon! Breakfast Club meets horror? Sign me right up.
DO YOU USE THE STAR RATING SYSTEM?
Absolutely, but I do think it’s not always accurate! I would love to see an option to 1/2 star a book, or even a switch to a 10 star system, which I think would be more accurate. Either way, stars and star averages on Goodreads are so helpful.
ARE YOU DOING A 2017 READING CHALLENGE?
I am! After basically a year of not reading for pleasure because of school, I set my goal unbelievably low at only 12 books. I’m at 7 so far, but I’m anticipating a big adjustment to college and not a lot of time for myself!
DO YOU HAVE A WISHLIST?
WHAT BOOK DO YOU PLAN ON BUYING NEXT?
The Merciless III: Origins of Evil by Danielle Vega! I love this series, and each book guarantees a fast, exciting read. I totally missed its release, and definitely need to get on it soon!
DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVORITE QUOTES?
I’m goin’ back to my roots here a little bit with one of my absolute favorite quotes from The Heir by Kiera Cass. It’s such a wonderful statement, and an important one to make in a series which was (unfairly, in my opinion) criticized as anti-feminist for a while.
“You can be brave and still be feminine. You can lead and still love flowers. Most importantly, you can be queen and still be a bride.”
WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS?
Pretty tough to just name a few, but Libba Bray, Patrick Ness, April Genevieve Tucholke, Alexandra Bracken, Kiera Cass, Rachel Hawkins, and Megan Abbott definitely top the list.
HAVE YOU JOINED ANY GROUPS?
Just a couple! I was added into a Goodreads/Tumblr group, but it’s inactive. I’m also part of Bibliophile Academy, mostly just to see what their monthly events/reads are!
Not gonna tag anyone this time around, as I’m sure this has been done by tons of people before we got back into the community. But if you haven’t been tagged and want to join in, consider this your invite!
